Kristan Shimpi knows that attitude is everything. Training at the studio requires that you leave your hang-ups at the door. That means no whining, no complaining. Kristan understands the high emphasis placed upon having the right attitude and how far it can take you. And, it’s because of this understanding that she has been able to achieve such great results.
Kristan, a long time runner, came to me back in May of 2011, while training to compete in here first triathlon. She initially wanted to compliment her long distance training with some strength work, in addition to losing some stubborn body fat. Like most endurance athletes, Kristan was surprised to learn that exercises such as pull ups, squats, deadlifts and presses were exactly what she needed. Ready for a challenge, she dove right in!
Kristan personified the heart of a champion and gave 110% in every session without a single complaint. Her effort was rewarded – she has lost 13% bodyfat and 8 lbs. of pure fat by training here only once a week.
After suffering a lower leg injury from running, Kristan went through some physical therapy, but with no avail. Being told that she couldn’t run or compete for 6-8 weeks felt like a death sentence to her. After no sign of improvement with traditional physical therapy, I convinced her to take advantage of some of our other services here. Kristan underwent five quick A.R.T. treatments with Dr. Charles Hecht and was then able to run (pain free!) once again.
Kristan’s story demonstrates a powerful message: we all have the tools to better ourselves and achieve our best, but what we do with them (and the attitude we possess) is up to us. Nice job Kristan!
PS: Look for Kristan’s results to sky-rocket as she now trains here 3 days per week!
